"Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again. We cannot develop and print a memory."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson
Portrait photography, especially head shots and art nudes, is my great passion in life. I love working with people in creating images that are beautiful, moving and sometimes irreverent. For me, photography is much more than just creating images with light and pixels; it's about giving back to others.
In my teenage years, I was mostly interested in landscape photography. In 2014, I decided to purchase a professional camera and began taking photos of friends. I soon realized how much I loved portrait photography and decided to work with models. I quickly learned that I had an intuitive ability to work with people in this capacity.
I am a self-taught photographer and continue to take workshops to improve my skills. In addition, I study the work of other classic and contemporary photographers (e.g. Dorothea Lange, Edward Weston, Hans de Kort, Chris Knight). In addition I find inspiration in Greek and Roman sculpture, and Renaissance artists such as Rembrandt and Vermeer. While I primarily work inside my home/studio or on location using natural light, I also like using artificial lighting. I handle all of my own post processing using a professional software.
When I am not behind my camera, I spend my time working in the hospitality industry. I love art, travel, cinema, cooking, gardening, hiking, and more.
As an artist seeking my own voice, I will continue to explore the many facets of portrait photography. While I am based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, I am quite willing to work almost anywhere (especially NYC and Denver). Contact me if you are interested in collaborating with me.
Thank you for taking the time to view my website. I also have an Instagram profile (see link at bottom of page).
Cheers! - Rob

Great website! Real people, real expressions. I like the naturalness and ease - the way you capture people. I also like that you let your photographs do the talking. Nicely done! - Vicki M., June 2018
Working with Rob was an absolute pleasure. Hes professional and knows how to make a model feel comfortable. He has a great eye and uses natural lighting in a wonderful way. The photos were wonderful and artistic. The Santa fe photography scene is lucky to have him. - Chris W, October 2016
Thank you so much for your work at our wedding! You are a wonderful presence; everyone who met you really liked you. It was a like a friend behind the camera, and during key moments, like the ceremony, you were stealthy as could be. - Melanie and Justin, July 2016
What I loved about being photographed by Rob was that he put me at ease with his fun, easy-going style. Coaxed by his wit and humor, we got some excellent shots - and we were done in no time! I dressed in layers to get a couple of different looks and was pleased with the quality and professionalism of his work. Debra C., March 2015
